The most commonly used and internationally recognized grading system by the pearl jewelry industry in general is “A to AAA” to determine the true pearl value. In the early 20th Century, Kokichi Mikimoto of Japan had more or less led these grading standards. Strict adherence is often difficult when matching in a pearl strand. But this alphanumeric ranking alone does not have much of significance to a customer and often puzzling, as most importantly, one should look for clean surface, good lustrous quality and color and identify the type of pearls one is looking for such as Freshwater pearls, Akoya seawater pearls, Tahitian pearls or South Sea pearls as each of these types come from different type of oysters family and are grown under varying climatic conditions.
At pearlrincess.com, for the convenient selection of all our customers, we offer AA, AA+ and AAA quality pearls, which is pretty much sought after and sold everyday. We carry stringent quality inspection for all the pearls and procure the finest quality pure genuine pearls directly from the pearl farms.
General Grade Description:
A+ Average luster, little potato shape, medium nacre and some blemishes.
AA Good luster, near round shape, better nacre and few blemishes.
AA+ Good high luster, good round shape, clean surface and all nacre.
AAA Fine high luster, excellent quality, perfectly round, high nacre and very clean surface, gem quality - top of the line.
CAUTION: There are no AAAA grade pearls as often shown by many jewelers to hype the price. You may even land up receiving lower grade quality pearl jewelry for higher prices.
